p:01 monograph book

for IFAgroup

an architecture studio with an extensive body of work, but no clear narrative connecting it.

the studio needed more than a record of completed projects. the monograph was conceived as a client-facing tool: something to guide meetings, remain with clients afterwards and reveal the decisions, craft and technical work behind the finished architecture. it had to communicate the time, complexity and value of that work without becoming specialist or overly artistic.

looking across the studio’s projects, i identified three recurring principles: context / idea / detail. they became the editorial structure of the book, connecting projects of different types and scales through a consistent combination of photography, adapted architectural drawings, diagrams and descriptions.

. presentation for clients

comparing all studio's designs those three principals i found in each project: context / idea / detail. it fitted both owner's vision about architecture and buildings they actually design. in the book project's showcases style are minimal, like a background - just navigating through narration, not dominating over the architecture itself. book cover reflects presented architecture: minimalistic yet bold / raw honest materials / no unnecessary elements.

how can a diverse archive become one coherent story?

a basic catalogue would show the studio’s projects, but not what connected them. the challenge was to turn a diverse body of work into one coherent narrative.
